Seattle Geek Girl Con

13 Jun

Stella and I are sitting at a coffee shop, in between shifts of canvasing for a certain new burlesque about crime fighting teenagers in multicolored spandex.  It’s also an hour before we go to see The Nerd Show at UP.  We had planned to get some writing done, but I’ve spent the whole time cruising the Geek Girl Con website while Stella yells at her iPad and talks about the comic books* she doesn’t get to pick up today.  I don’t read comic books so I don’t understand most of what she is saying.

Let’s talk about Geek Girl Con and how sad I am that I can’t be there!

While I’m in New York with the show Five Lesbians Eating a Quiche at the NY Fringe Festival, all sorts of awesome nerd girls will be in Seattle “recognizing and celebrating the contribution of women in all aspects of geek culture.”  It’s only the second year of the con, but they’ve got a really cool line up of guests already.  I’ve been checking out their galleries from past events, including Tempting Tart Burlesque!

If you live in Seattle or you can get to Seattle on August 11th and 12th, you should definitely go.  Tickets are currently $30 or $45 for a two day pass!

*Stella says, “Happy comic book day, nerds!”
